World-Wide Transmission Webcast on the Anniversary of Padmasambhava with Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, July 17, 2013 at 11:00 PM EDT

Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, Rinpoche gives Direct Transmission via Webcast three times each year, so that Transmission is available to those whose circumstances do not permit them to receive transmission in person.

The next World-Wide Transmission is going to be Wednesday July 17th, at 11pm EDT, The Anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava.

There is an explanation of the Transmission given by Gerry Steinberg on Monday, July 15 in the Schoolhouse gonpa, Conway, MA, from 7 p.m.

To assist those whose circumstances do not permit them to be present at the Gar, a telephone hookup will be available so that they can hear the explanation.

Please Note:  It is necessary to receive the explanation prior to viewing the webcast of the World Wide Transmission.

Individuals planning on participating in the WWT explanation at home via speaker phone hook-up as a prerequisite to the actual WW Transmission, will need to purchase either the practice book, the book Guruyoga (the practice is in the back of the book), or DVD.  Please contact the Shang Shung Bookstore at the link provided on the webpage.

If you will attend an explanation at your local ling or Gar, then there is no need to purchase these items.

Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Has Arrived at Tsegyalgar East!

Chögyal Namkhai Norbu arrived yesterday afternoon at his home on lower Khandroling. Members of the community greeted him with the Most Elegant Circle dance that they learned earlier in the day while awaiting his arrival.

Seated on his porch, Rinpoche seemed to enjoy what is increasingly becoming an important aspect of our community culture--the songs and dances of Tibet!

The current schedule leading up to the Retreat which begins on Friday June 7, 2013 is the following:

Vajra Dance at 3:30pm in the Schoolhouse

Tibetan Singing & Dancing at 5pm in the Schoolhouse

Chögyal Namkhai Norbu at the Rubin Museum in NYC May 29, 2013

The Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art in NYC will host  Chögyal Namkhai Norbu in a book signing in honor of The Light of Kailash A History of Zhang Zhung and Tibet, Vol. I

A History of Zhang Zhung and Tibet, Volume One explores ancient Tibet's Zhang Zhung kingdom and the Bon religion, which preceded the advent of Buddhism in the seventh century. Countering the long-held idea that Tibet's pre-Buddhist indigenous culture was primitive and undeveloped, this book shares the rich cultural origins of the kingdom of Zhang Zhung - the "cradle of Tibetan culture," which encompassed a vast area of Western and Northern Tibet in an area that includes sacred Mount Kailash. To read more visit the Rubin

Wednesday Night Tibetan Dance Practice at Tsegyalgar East

During Tibetan Dancing, Wednesdays 4:30-6:30pm at Tseggyalgar East in the Schoolhouse Gonpa
we will dedicate the last 1/2 hour or so to the Most Elegant Circle Dance. We plan to present this Dance to our Teacher Chogyal Namkhai Norbu upon his arrival on Sunday, June 2nd.

It will increase how Most Elegant the Circle Dance already is, if many of us are able to dance it together in synchronicity. This can be a beautiful offering to our Precious Teacher! Come and join us for the whole time or only from 6-6:30 to learn this particular Dance.

Khandroling Development Plans for Spring 2013

During 2012, several individuals met on a regular basis  to discuss the potential for developing an agricultural cooperative on lower Khandroling, formerly a small working farm typical of the region. This spring the "Coop" team plans on initiating the following pilot projects to inaugurate the project:

• Putting in 2 beehives for honey production

• 2 small test plots: 

Flax to be used for fibers in the paper making project

Barley to be used in conjunction with the honey to make Chudlen

• Planting fruit trees ( 30 to 50 depending on cost) up on the high part of the west side field

• The coop had the soil tested at the southern field; we will buy and plow in the necessary organic materials to make it suitable for planting vegetables

• Another mushroom plot, using the logs from the new road

Members of the team currently include, Yuchen Namkhai, Paula Barry, Joe Zurylo, Nary Mitchill, Sebastian Ratti, Jacqueline Gens, and Leela Hewitt-Whitcomb. Earlier a working draft of a proposal was created in collaboration with Yuchen Namkhai that will evolve as pilot projects manifest in 2013. In the meantime, individual members of the team are actively researching local permaculture and landscape design resources in the area as well as enrolling in classes on beekeeping.
