The Santi Maha Sangha (SMS) training prepared by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu is a study and practice in nine levels devoted to deepening knowledge of the Dzogchen or Total Perfection Teaching. Santi Maha Sangha includes the concise teachings of Garab Dorje and treats exhaustively the view, meditation and behaviour that constitite the knowledge and experience of the practice of Dzogchen for future generations in a pure way.
The purpose of Santi Maha Sangha training is not to develop an intellectual knowledge but to train and experience Dzogchen knowledge concretely and develop the capacity to continue the Dzogchen teaching for the benefit of others. It is not necessary to follow the Santi Maha Sangha training to follow the Dzogchen teaching but the Santi Maha Sangha program provides a perfect basis for developing ones capacity to deepen knowlege and experience and thus to be of benefit to others.***
Approximately twenty participants traveled from all over the world and US to attend the second level SMS training following their first level exams for the first time. Another twenty people who had previously attended a SMS Level 2 joined them. This year the teachings were held in Rinpoche's home on Lower Khandroling in an intimate environment that created a powerful container for transmitting the Teachings. Rinpoche communicated the second level training over a period of six days.
